The Postcard Project
'Architectural Masterpieces of the 21st Century as seen through the eyes of a Tourism Board, circa 1950.'
This project was an exercise in architectural representation. I'm interested in how people understand space through graphics and how various mediums of presentation can communicate a project or space differently to different people. The visual language of this series imposes a certain nostalgic quality to the architectural works. By placing contemporary masterpieces in a historic graphic language, we are invited to view the works as part of a continuum more rooted in history than much of contemporary representation. Playfully questioning the prevalent usage of 'photo-renders,' the project confronts us with an alternative, well-recognized means of communication.
